  1. To prepare the pie crust, mix the flour and salt in a large bowl. Add the cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add ice water, stirring with a fork, until the dough comes together. Divide the dough in half, shape into discs, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  3. For the filling, heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground pork, ground beef, onion, and garlic. Cook, breaking up the meat with a spoon, until browned and cooked through. Stir in cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add beef broth to the skillet and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in breadcrumbs. Let the filling cool for a few minutes.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, roll out one disc of dough to fit a 9-inch (23 cm) pie dish. Transfer the dough to the dish and press it into the bottom and up the sides. Spoon the filling into the pie crust.
  6. Roll out the second disc of dough to form a top crust. Place the top crust over the filling, and trim any excess dough. Crimp the edges of the pie to seal. Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  7. Bake the tourtière in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown. Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.
  8. Serve the Canadian Tourtière warm, with a side salad or steamed vegetables for a complete and satisfying meal.
